Meta Launches AI-Powered Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with Neural Band Control
Meta has unveiled its latest wearable technology: Ray-Ban smart glasses equipped with a heads-up display and AI capabilities, priced at $799. The glasses maintain the classic Wayfarer design while integrating a camera, speakers, microphone, and a high-resolution color display in the right lens. The display shows text, images, and live video calls, activating only during use with an LED indicator for recording.
Control is facilitated through touch panels, voice commands, or a water-resistant Neural Band that detects forearm nerve signals for gesture-based navigation. By year-end, the band will support finger-drawn handwriting. The glasses seamlessly connect with Meta's services, including WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, enabling calls, texts, and video communication.
Mark Zuckerberg emphasized the blend of traditional style and cutting-edge technology, positioning these as the first AI glasses with a fully weighted neural interface. The product marks a significant step in wearable AI, though no direct cryptocurrency or exchange linkages are evident in the announcement.
